The art of Placement

Just as animals take great care to place their nests, the art of placement taps into our deepest primitive need for security and comfort, to find the best vantage point.

It is about feeling the space, how we enter it and where we place ourselves.

This city apartment floating high above the Tribeca skyline needed grounding after a previous renovation left the owners feeling unmoored. To define the spaces between the building’s large concrete columns we sourced sculptural furniture and light fixtures. Rough tweedy wools and lustrous silky mohair add soothing texture and a white oak floor creates a sense of gravity. Now the owners feel truly at home and enamored with the perches we designed that feel personal to them, individually and together.

“Katie guided us masterfully through her process, creating and revealing the hidden beauty and elegance of our home… She elevated and enriched the fabric of our lives in ways that touch us deeply and bring us joy.”
