The Element of Surprise
One of my thrills in life is designing experiences with a twist.
In a dining room with a patterned wallpaper of yellow zig zags, you open the cupboard doors above the server to find a backdrop of big polka dots. Not what you expected.
In one of Princeton's oldest buildings, a teeny hallway covered in an oversized floral print leads to an even teenier powder room. When you open the door you’re greeted by a modernist pattern of graphic lines and a brightly colored print. You didn’t see that coming.
It’s like serving a simple and delicious meal at a dinner party then bringing out a ridiculously sumptuous cake to your guests’ delight — surprise!
